Long Distance Bug Shoot - _TNY_4693

On one of the summer's four visits to the Mjällådalen nature reserve near Härnösand, Sweden, we (my son and I) successfully photographed peacock beetles on exposed sand banks in the river.

Once satisfied with the beetle shots, we decided to have a cup of coffee and a cinnamon bun right there on the sand bank.

That's when we noticed quite a large number of beutiful demoiselles (Calopteryx virgo) haning around near the edge of the water.

Those are always photogenic so I changed lens to the 180 mm Sigma macro plus the 2x teleconverter and began trying to get a sharp photo of one of those. Most of them didn't turn out well, but a couple, like this one, were alright.
