A hairy-eyed Syrphus (Syrphus torvus) on a hawkweed at the edged of my mother-in-law's garden outside Härnösand, Sweden.
No idea on the benefit of having hairy eytes - but since evoloution has seemed fit to equip them with it I can only assume there is an advantage to it.
