Airwalk, Night Edition - _TNY_0783

The four-spot orb-weaver (Araneus quadratus) is a not rare at all orb-weaver in Sweden, but for some reason I haven't been able to find and shoot one until last week - I just kept finding the quite similar European garden spider, Araneus diadematus.

I found them now though! This female, and several more, had built their webs between stems of sunflower in a field. They were quite shy though and all of them had built little hideouts by using their silk to beand leaves at the edge of the web.

Using a straw I poked a bit at them which made them run out into the middle of the web where I could get one or two shots before they ran back.

This one had built her web pretty low so I had to get on the ground and shoot up and towards the sun which with these settings made for a dark sky, but for the first shot I posted here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52320554222/ it resulted in a pretty neat sky effect.
