Halted Construction, Pt. 3 - _TNY_3342

I believe this to be the beginnings of a nest of the eusocial paper wasp Ropalidia jacobsoni in Phu Quoc, Vietnam.

 

These guys are quite small (body length less than 10 mm) and I found the nest using a flashlight and they were sound asleep, allowing me to get in close.

 

This shot is especially nice as a sole overview as it shows one wasp from the side, one from the top, one from the front and also eggs and larvae in the open cells of the nest. Couldn't ask for more, right?
