Difficult Hatching - _TNY_1632

The large tree nymph (Idea leuconoe), also known as the paper kite butterfly, giant wood nymph, rice paper butterfly, or in Australia the white nymph butterfly, is a fairly large butterfly - but it hatches from a surprisingly small chrysalis.

I'm not sure for the reason for the diminutive chrysalises, which are very pretty in yellow covered with small black spots, but they appear to be a bit difficult to exit properly for the butterflies and it happens pretty often that the wings are damaged or dry in not completely flat form.

It isn't visible from this angle, but one ot the left wings on the butterfly in this photo was damaged, but the ones seen here cover it.
