"Red" Butterfly - _TNY_8205

Looking at this photo, it might be difficult to see why it is known as the red cracker (Hamadryas amphinome), but the reason is as simple as the underside of the wings being primarily red.

 

In the wild, these are found in the Americas, but this specimen was modelling for me at the Haga Ocean butterfly house in Solna,Sweden in mid-June.
