Almost Metallic - _TNY_1330

Here is a rather close shot of a giant owl butterfly (Caligo telamonius memnon), also known as the pale owl butterfly, on a pink plastic flower.

 

If you zoom in (no surprise, I love zooming in) the individual scales on the wings are showing and they sort of look like they have a metallic sheen to them. Very cool - especially as the butterfly doesn't display any shimmer when you see it in person.
