Monochrome Odonata Photography - _TNY_0862

This really is a colour photograph - but the male balck darter (Sympetrum danae) against the white of the birch bark makes for a very colour-less photo.

This is actually one of the more stupid photos I've taken recently. The dragonfly was perched on a fallen birch trunk that was in the water of the Uringeån, a smallis stream running through the Svartkällsskogen nature reserve in in Botkyrka, Sweden.

Not considereing what would happen if I slipped, I jumped out on another trunk to the side and leaned towards this one to get as close as possible.

This was the result and I managed to jump back to solid ground afterwards - only to slip a couple of minutes later and fall into the water, submerging the MP-E65mm lens in my pocket s well as my phone.
