The High Saturation Version - _TNY_6012
One of the most common (and incidently also one of the largest) butterflies at the Haga Ocean butterfly house in Solna, on the north side of Stockholm, Sweden, is the pale owl butterfly (Caligo memnon - here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/51946510475/). It has a lovely light blue colour (like this: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/51982251053/) and doesn't really look "pale" until you see this one. It's a yellow-edged giant owl butterfly (Caligo atreus) - with very similar patterns except much more intense.
I have yet to get a good shot of the dorsal side with its deep blue and yellow stripes, but it has significantly more intense colours on both sides and feels a bit like the deluxe version of C. memnon.
