The Tell - _TNY_6576
This is a blue-banded morpho (Morpho achilles) or sometimes the banded blue morpho.
The butterfly house where I shot this one (Haga Ocean in Solna, Sweden) has another morpho species as well, the peleides blue morpho. The latter has completely blue dorsal side of the wings (example www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/26963220947/) while this one has two wide blue bands instead (like so: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/51983908732/).
When they're sitting like this, however, it isn't quite as easy to tell which it is. The thing to look for is the white lines alont the trailing edge of the front wings - on M. peleides they are much wider (like on this one: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/38041477311/).
