The Thin Red Line, Pt. 3 - _TNY_1652
I took my son on an afternoon trip to Åva-Stensjödal in Tyresta National Park, just south of Stockholm, Sweden, and we had a nice time finding lots of bugs to shoot. Here is a male red damsel male (Pyrrhosoma nymphula) which I followed through the ferns and stinging nettles (necessitating some attention where to move and not just push through).
In other parts of Europe, this one can be mistaken for the similar small red damsel, but since that species isn't found in Sweden, it is unmistakingly a large one.
