Collateral Damage in the Nursery - _TNY_6834

This tan beauty is a female nursery web spider (Pisaura mirabilis).

Here she is - quite fittingly - in the nursery web which she has spun for her offspring - the dark bundle of legs on the right side.

She stays in the web for a while after they have hatched to protect them against predators.

Also, if you look a little closer, just to the right of mama spider, you can see a small weevil which has wantered into the web and gotten stuck! I didn't notice it when I too the shot, if I had done so, I would have closed in even further on it and maybe manage an ID, but that's too difficult from just this shot.
