The Nursery, Pt. 2 - _TNY_0827
Pretty unsurprisingly, the female of the nursery web spider (Pisaura mirabilis) constructs a nursery web where the eggs she has carried around in her egg sac are hatched under her protection.
The easiest tell for identifying this species of spider isn't the colouration as they can vary incredibly much in colour and pattern, but rather the white sideburns as they are the only ones who have them - and always do.
Part one shows the same spider from the side and it is quite apparent how thin her abdomen has become after laying all the eggs: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/49827144852/
