A Winter Species for Me - _TNY_5834
Early November is quite cold in Stockholm, Sweden. Temps at the moment are climbing down towards freezing so there aren't many invertebrates out and about, but when changing to winter tires, I noticed this one on the side of the house - and I must say, this is becoming more and more of a winter species for me.
This is a female buzzing spider (Anyphaena accentuata), so named because in spring, the males rapidly tap their feet on dry leaves to create a buzzing sound (audible to humans) to attract females.
So,what was that about winter species? Well, both in late December of 2017 and late December of 2018, I have found a male of this species in one of my kitchen cupboards and I've never seen them otherwise.
