Scourge of Oaks - _TNY_5638
Nope, this isn't a barber pole out on the move, this is the caterpillar of the small moth known as the brown oak slender (Acrocercops brongniardellus), a species whose caterpillars damage the leaves of oak trees.
The adult moths like to find their way inside to hibernate during winter so it is quite common to find loads of the moths trapped inside the windows when you get out to the summer house in spring.
