The Odd One Out, Pt. 2 - _TNY_3592

An afternoon trip to Åva-Stensjödal in Tyresta National park, just south of Stockholm, Sweden, turned up countless of these common spreadwings (Lestes sponsa), also known as the emerald damselfly.

Unlike most of the other 1500 or so species of damselflies in the world, these guys don't fold their wings back over the abdomen but instead keep them somewhere in between what other damsels do and how dragons hold them.

On a side note, how about those blue eyes? I'm thinking Frank Sinatra would be jealous!
