There is no way that prey get stuck in the absolute center of spider webs than anywhere else in them.

 

Since most of the times that I see orb weavers like this European garden spider (Araneus diadematus) eating, they are smack dab in the center of their webs so I can only assume that they prefer bringing their fod there to eat.
