Male spiders transfer the sperm to the female using their pedipalps which when they become adult swell and become thicker than on females. If a spider is wearing boxing gloves you can tell it is a male.
And then there are some who are more well-endowed than others...
Like this male triangle spider (Hyptiotes paradoxus) which I found trying to build a web under one of the patio heaters and appears to be carrying pedipalps the size of Nebraska.
This species is a member of the Uloboridae which is special as they don't use venom. Out of Sweden's ~730 species of spiders, only two lack venom. The name triangle spider has nothing to do with body shape as it is about the shape of the webs they make.
