Lessened Wing Area - _TNY_9147

Like all butterflies, the small tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae) have a huge wing area per unit of body weight compared to most other insects.

This means that even though this one has part of one wing missing it still had no issues whatsoever flying and precision landing on flowers, like here on a dark variety of the great masterwort (Astrantia major).
