Sort of Newborn - _TNY_9354
Dragonflies spend almost all of their lives underwater in nymph form where they are also predators.
After one or two years of growing there they one day climb up a reed or similar and the back bursts open and out comes the adult dragonfly.
They unfold their wings and pump out fluid into them and wait for them to harden before they can take to the sky and soar like we all know them - but only for a couple of weeks.
This female black darter (Sympetrum danae), known as the black meadowhawk in North America, had just recently hatched and was waiting for the wings to harden enough.
I guess this makes it kind of newborn - and also nearing the ned of its life at the same time.
