Blue Beauty - _TNY_2048
This small sapphire on the blade of grass is most likely a Idas blus (Plebejus idas), sometimes known as the northern blue. There is a chance it could be a silver-studded blue (Plebejus argus) though.
This was taken on a rather magical day when I took a walk along a small logging road in the forests of Härnösand and saw a staggering number of butterflies, mainly blues and coppers, but lots of other species as well.
The predominantly blue dorsal side also tells us this is a male.
