This male Nursery Web Spider (Pisaura mirabilis) was waiting outside my front door one or two weeks ago.
A large specimen and really nice colours on it as well.
It's the males of this species who catch, wrap and offer a bug as a gift to the female as part of the courtship. A well-fed lover makes for a better chance of survival for male spiders.
