WTF!!!!!

This was the very moment when the penguin realised that the seal it had stumbled upon was a predatory, penguin-eating Leopard Seal. The look of horror on the penguin's face inspired my title. This incident happened on a small piece of floating pack ice in the Weddell Sea while the Adelie Penguin was tobogganing across the ice on his belly. The seal was hidden behind some snow mounds so the penguin did not spot him until he was almost on top of him. Most seals are harmless to penguins but not the Leopard Seal, which feeds mainly on penguins and the occasional seal pup. The startled penguin was in a dilemma because it would be more likely to get caught by a Leopard Seal in the water, yet it didn't fancy staying on this small ice island with the seal. It turned tail and waddled to the edge of the ice but hadn't dived in by the time our ship had sailed past.
