design for Gran Casino Nacional sconce - Edward F. Caldwell and Co

Design for a lighting sconce, on display as part of the "Jazz Age" exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States.

Edward F. Caldwell & Company (1895-1959) was one of the pre-eminent lighting design firms of the first half of the 20th century. The actual designer(s) of this fixture are not known.

This particular design was commissioned by the architectural firm of McKim, Mead & White of New York City, one of the greatest architectural firms in American history. The fixture was part of their work in 1928 designing the Gran Casino Nacional in Havana, Cuba.
