I liked this lady goat a lot. She stayed close to me while all the other goats ran away. Her attitude was definitely, "Watch your step, big guy. Make a move toward my babies, I'm gonna bust your chops." What I liked is, she wasn't like a dog, going "Woof woof, you better believe I'm tough," she was quiet & still, moving only when I moved so that she stayed between me & the others, staring at me skeptically. There were a couple of long-horned bucks in the group, but they were happy to chow down while mom kept watch. (P.S. this wasn't actually a family; I'm being metaphorical. The goat guy did tell me this brown doe had probably given birth recently, but her kids weren't with her -- though her maternal protectiveness apparently was).
