So threateningly near the road, because there is not a tundra area someplace safely away from the road where the elk could munch their tundra plants at.

All the tourists are driving distractedly and rearending and sideswiping one another while they roll down their windows to take pictures so this definitely isn't a safe area for these elk to be in. Despite the nice angle that the sun is shining on them from.
