Stranger #33 - David [Explore]

After some success in finding strangers within Melbourne's popular Degraves Lane the Melbourne Meet-up group went across the road to Centre Place, another small but very busy laneway filled with wonderful cafes and boutique shops.

 

It wasnt very long before some of the other members of our group had found some new subjects and after wandering through the maze of people in this dark, tight laneway I spotted who would be my 33rd stranger – his name is David.

 

Amongst a very busy crowd I had spotted David's tall black hat bobbing above everyone else. I was at the opposite end of the laneway at the time so I quickly looked for a suitable background before he had reached me. Once we had come to meet each other I approached David and asked my usual questions about participating in the project. He agreed without hesitation and I decided to go to the end of the laneway to try and find a cleaner background to shoot David against, away from the large crowd.

 

David was wearing a long black coat in addition to his hat, so he certainly stood out amongst the crowd. His almost-white hair made for a really contrasting image so the background I decided to shoot against was also quite dark. After a few quick shots I had what I needed and we both got chatting about our days so far.

 

David is a materials handler here in Melbourne, dealing with a range of products and parts during his general work day. Today however he was enjoying his day off and planned on going for a massage followed by a visit to the Art Gallery in the afternoon. David was very relaxed in our conversations and he wished me well in my project.
