Yesterday's work

I pull out my super-mommy overachiever style for three things:

1. Birthday parties

2. Birthday cakes

3. Halloween costumes

This picture falls into category 3. Marisa, following her Wizard of Oz theme (she was Dorothy last year), decided to be Glinda, the good witch of the North. Now, it must be said: I am completely pattern-illiterate. I just can't follow them. They intimidate me and I don't understand them and I haven't the foggiest idea why. So everytime I sew, I have to break down the thing I want to make into pieces in my mind that I can cut out -- mostly drawing freehand on the fabric -- and piece together. Here is what I managed yesterday. I have to re-do the sleeves, because I think they are going to be too small, but it was a pretty good first cut at it, I think.

Marisa is delighted. And really -- that's all that counts.
