(More information about St. Anne Park (expected publication August 2012) www.technogypsie.com/reviews/?p=3730) St. Anne Park: Originally the Viking battlegrounds, St. Anne's Park is the 2nd largest park in Dublin, part of a former 500 acre estate assembled by the Guinness family in 1835 featuring an artificial pond and a number of follies. They built a large Italianate-style mansion house which burnt down in 1943. The lands were sold off to the Dublin Corporation in 1939. This was developed into a park and It was named after holy well that is on the lands for public use. Has a duck pond, follies, walled garden, grand avenue, a rockery, Dublin's city arboretum, a Herculanean temple, three fortifications, ornamental bridge, once a druidic circle of Giant's causeway basalt, red brick Ardilaun stables, art centre, and playing fields (golf course, tennis courts, playing pitches, and pathways for walkers/joggers).
