I'm playing catch up from the beginning. I have NO IDEA why this template went the direction it did ... but ... Here's what I made.
Thanks for visiting!
For the dare at thebrightowl.com. Drawn on watercolor paper, colored with Derwent Inktense Pencils, shaded with water and brush.
lostandfound-bjw.blogspot.com/2012/12/dares.html this is the link to my blog post for these zendalas
After uploading the other Dare (same but pink), I realised the shading didn't come up real well, so I edited again, and whilst trying to get it right, I discovered this look. How very different and colours are more intense so I decided to post them both.
thank you for looking

Not a Zentangle but a Zendala. I don't normally use pencil, but I did want tthis to be fairly uniform - I used the letters to spell 'I LOVE U'.
It was an interesting concept as I did indeed find the process very 'Zen'

Mini-Zendalas on 3' circles punched out of watercolour paper - preparing for a demonstration this Sunday. It will be a pancake brunch, hence circles :)
I've never done a challenge before, so I decided to try The Bright Owl's weekly Zendala challenge. This is zendala dare number 8. I used Lilypads, OOF, Veezley and Eye-wa for my tangles.
Created from my mandala/zendala template freebie on Circular Sunday blog posting for April 1, 2012.
You can pick up the template from my blog at rainbowelephant.com

This week the dare was to use ONLY PENCIL for the Zendala ... YUCK!
It is very difficult to get dark, bold, tangles with pencil. Pencil also smudges EVERYWHERE! But, I survived. It's also very difficult to photograph pencil due to the shine. This is not something I will attempt again but I'm glad to have done it once.
Thanks for visiting.
I didn't have a black Zendala tile so used a black 3Z instead. Tangle Tripoli with white gel pen and black micron on top of blue coloured pencil background. Embellished with Gold Amsterdam Relief Paint.
looks like I used a Navy coloured pen - so I went along with it and framed it in Navy...thanks for looking :)
I did this using a zendala downloaded from Erin's website, thebrightowl.blogspot.com/2012/04/zendala-dare-2.html. It was my intention to enter her challenge; but I'm not sure I will now. The reason is there are soooo many mistakes on this one. I might do another one, I have a week! The tangles I used are Paradox, Hollibaugh, Mumsy, and what was supposed to be a "Bumps" variation. When I finished I realized I had done the Bumps all wrong, and on the Mumsy, I got lost while I was drawing it, and I don't think it's a real Mumsy. Oh, well. Live and learn. I'm taking a zentangle class (my first one) next Tuesday, so I'd still have time to do another challenge.
A third one for the zendala dare. I think it's my favorite. Tangles used: Umble, Betweed, Purk, and Crescent Moon.
A Lotus Mandala I made as a part of the 5 Days of Mandala Magic course. Just the linework (Sakura Micron 005 on 7" square mulberry paper). Tangles: Maryhill, Copada.
Not so sure that I like using color. Maybe it will grow on me.
5x7" on parchment cardstock using ZIG black and colored pens as well as mechanical pencil
Tangles: Zenplosion and Ribbon (Daniele O'Brien) Stacks (Helen Williams)
A completely different look to the first one. I wanted to use a tangle that could be drawn fairly quickly and take up lots of space, so 'Stacks' fitted the bill. Then what to do? I wanted to give it a rustic feel, so I added rivets to the Stacks. Then I wanted to fill the spaces around Stacks - so came Zenplosion, and for interest I added Ribbons, which have the same flow as Zenplosion so fitted in quite well. Then, I wanted to use either a pattern that looked like old bricks or cobblestones - cobblestones won that draw. I used muted water colour pencils, filling in the middle with a lime colour to bring out the main tangles.
I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed the process.
Thank you for looking - your comments are most welcome :)
This is my second interpretation of the Zendala Dare #15. This design was done on yellow cardstock with .005 Micron pen. The designs include a pattern I saw on one of Suzanne McNeill's tangles (the ovals with three lines connecting them - there is no reference to a name); also used were Unyan, Bales (var.), and Baton (var.). I don't know if it's okay to post more than one Dare on Erin's blog. If someone knows, please let me know. At any rate, I plan to post it. If someone lets me know if I'm not suppose to do that, I won't do it again. Thanks for looking at my work. Your comments are welcome and appreciated.
