Happy Birthday Zendala

this first Cactus Monday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK!
We LOVE You!
Love this template. Tangles used: Striping, Paradox, Betweed, Zander, Onamato (var), Huggins, and then the polia dots and some line work.
This is my first original hand drawn mendala using a compass, protractor and ruler ala the Genevieve Crabe method. Original is approx. 5.5" diameter.
Zendala made using my Feb-2012 free Sunday Circular template. You can get the template from rainbowelephant.com starting 5 February 2012
This challenge uses a mandala template by Geneviève Crabe.
A zendala is a combination of a mandala and a zentangle.
This is the first zendala I've ever done. It was different from doing a zentangle--more structured in a way. I'm going to try another using the same template.
This week's template by guest artist Genevieve Crabe

A Zendala using Bloosa as the the thread and Color sprayed from a marker. Patterns: Trazee, Slinky, B'Tweed, Mooka, Jax.
Valentangled in the string...
Don't love the shading but it was fun to try to combine the two challenges.
it's so hard for me to get away from structure - I don't do organic and Zendala's well at all.... I just can't see it. And then I see so many wonderful Zendalas from my fellow tanglers and I am in awe of their beautiful tiles. If you too would like to see them, please click here... thebrightowl.blogspot.ca
This one in color I added a challenge for myself. I had to find all the tangles in my books, not on line. Tangles used: Flora by Sandy Bartholomew, Fronds, Growth, and Tufted Leaves by Suzanne McNeill, Lacy by Sandra Strait, and another Suzanne McNeill, Dandelion Seeds, of which I did a variation. All but the leafy vine on the outside (Sandy Bartholomew) are available in the new book - Joy of Zentangle.
This Zendala was drawn on blue card stock with Micron .005 Pen and shaded with black & white graphite pencils. Thanks for viewing. I look forward to your comments. : D
This is a Zendala Template, I downloaded from www.lineweaving.com. It is part of their Sunday Circular Challenges. When I first saw this template, I drew a complete blank. Then I just dove right in, with no thought, strategy or plan.
Still catching up on dares I missed.
The Weekly Zendala Dare can be found at: thebrightowl.blogspot.com/
Even if you're not up to the challenge, you can view some incredible submissions! I highly recommend.
Thanks for looking.
