Some of the beach houses at Awana are down close to the shore while others are perched on the side of the hills at the southern end of the beach. This scene of the yellow flowers contrasting with the white sand, brown of the dry dead grasses and the bright window frames of the beach house caught me eye as we walked along the beach.

What a lazy Sunday! Char stayed until lunchtime and we did practically nothing - and then she went home and Tim and I carried on doing practically nothing. Lovely! Honestly, the only useful thing I did today was to strip the bed in the spare room and tidy it all away. Other than that I was mostly slumped in front of the TV, feeling mildly hungover and eating junk food. At one point this morning, I had my smartphone balanced on my knee and spotted this pretty reflection in it - blip for the day sorted with minimal effort.
This gutted building and the ones behind it located in downtown Victoria. Looked to me like some bombed out structures that dot violent landscapes.
A frame within a frame within a frame. Another self portrait, but using a very different methodology. The mirror itself forms a frame within the area for wazu in the Hisar Mosque. The yellow archway within is isolates the subject and teh black windowframe within forms another backdrop for framing the subject. The orange jumps out of an otherwise subdued colour scheme.
The Drumheller Valley has a long history of mining - this mine is one of the better preserved in Canada. The men and ponies that worked this mine worked brutally hard and looked after each other. It is a very interesting heritage site and now offers tours into the actual mine. Take time to take the "tipple tour" - it is well worth doing.
The gatekeeper's lodge at the Parc Guell in Barcelona. Doesn't it just remind you of the Gingerbread house from Hansel and Gretel's story? Imagine living in there (and not chewing on the candy round the windowframes).
'Boris' the (garden) spider came indoors and overnight set up a web on the inside of our large kitchen window. Araneus Diadematus was safely put back in the garden! It was a shame to destroy the spiders' extensive overnight endeavours, though but! August 9th. 2016.
