Chicago commuter trains on a weekend layover at C&NW's yard at West Chicago, Illinois, October 19, 1980.
I spent the 4th of July weekend camping and hiking out on the Castner Glacier in the Alaska Range. This was my first time out here in the summer and it was beautiful! The first five miles of the glacier are completely debris covered and partially vegetated, requiring quite a bit of bushwacking for a glacier hike. This was my campsite at 10 pm Saturday night, about 4 miles up the glacier and 5 miles from the road. You can see the tip of Blackcap above the ridge just right of the tent. I'm just starting to pick through some photos today, many more to come!
