Umbra observes with growing concern Cory talking to himself, trapped in a conversation with an invisible demon unseen by his eyes. His mind begins to generate a series of unsettling thoughts, fueled by the strangeness of Cory's behavior. All the doubts and assumptions she had about him magnify in her head, creating a sensation of paranoia that envelops her like a sinister shadow.
Despite her fears, Umbra decides to follow him, driven by a curiosity that seems impossible to avoid. Cory turns around, smiles mysteriously, and quickens his pace, heading faster and faster towards a part of the park hidden among dense vegetation. His walk becomes increasingly rapid and elusive, as if he were trying to escape from something or someone.
Umbra, with her mind filled with complicated and confused thoughts, cannot fully understand what is happening, but instinct urges her to continue following him. She cannot resist the strange attraction that Cory exerts on her, despite her fears and the signals of danger surrounding her.
In the heart of the park, Cory slips into a hidden and remote area, where the vegetation becomes thicker and more impenetrable. Umbra follows him, becoming more and more involved in an elusive and disturbing reality. Her pace quickens, trying to keep up with Cory, who seems guided by a mysterious and irresistible force.
Amidst the dense vegetation, Umbra suddenly finds herself surrounded by an oppressive and sinister atmosphere. Strange and dark forms begin to materialize in front of her, emanating a threatening aura. Fear should invade her, push her to flee, but instead she feels strangely drawn to these dark presences. She feels like a moth attracted to the flame, unable to resist the call of what may be dangerous.
The mysterious forms come closer and closer to Umbra, their unsettling appearances becoming more defined. Her mind is caught in a whirlwind of conflicting emotions: fear and fascination, terror and attraction. She cannot fully comprehend what is happening, but she surrenders to the dark embrace of these creatures approaching her.
The dark forms surround her, enveloping her in a sinister and hypnotic dance. Umbra feels as if she has been sucked into an unknown dimension, where the boundary between reality and illusions dissolves. She is overwhelmed by a sense of total disorientation, unable to distinguish what is real from what is the product of her troubled mind.
Umbra's fate seems to be sealed, just like Zephyr's had been. In the enveloping darkness of the dark presences, Umbra gets lost, becoming a prisoner of a distorted and threatening reality. Her fears and uncertainties blend together as she is dragged deeper into the darkness that surrounds her.
On another note I love the look of wet clay. I don't know what it is. I find the smell satisfying too.
I was contemplating whether I wanted this for my landscape. But didn't show enough of a wide area of land. I just love the elongated shadow of the tree. It gives it some mystery and darkness.

This is when I found out for certain - THE ENTIRE TOWN IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
This is what happens when you decide to visit a town based solely on "a feeling about its name".
Fournier Street, east London. A large sundial carved with the inscription "Umbra sumus" a quote taken from Horace's odes meaning "We are shadows".
In my pre-eclipse talk, I was describing how eclipses work, and needed some prop's - a snail shell will do!
Look at the shadow of the snail shell - both a lighter and darker shadow is visible. The torch represents the Sun, and the snail-shell is the Moon.
The Earth must pass through the darker shadow (the Umbra) for a total eclipse to happen. If the Moon is slightly further away, as it frequently is due to its elliptical (oval) orbit, the Moon would be unable to completely obscure the Sun, and the Earth would only pass through the lighter shadow (the penumbra) causing an Annular Eclipse.
Similarly, during a Lunar Eclipse, the Moon passes through both the lighter and darker shadow cast by the Earth.
