In spite of their threatening looks, the dark clouds, however, don't spell any trouble ahead as there is no forecast of forthcoming weather disturbance in and around the Bay area.

those who follow events on the railway will no doubt by now have heard that the operating body of the llangollen railway--the PLC has asked it's bankers to appoint a receiver---full details are to be found on their website . Having read the comments and speculation to be found on appropriate internet sites , I will not add to them ,but will simply express the hope that whilst this is indeed a serious blow to the railway , it is not necessarily a fatal one

Probably the favourite bird from my trip of a lifetime to Costa Rica at the end of last year. Not maybe quite as showy as the Resplendent Quetzal or Keel Billed Toucan, but have attitude in bucket loads and those plumage colours spell danger, high voltage!
They are not looking for trouble of course, just a free lunch.

Well ..... here's one of the things that has eaten up my summer - - a mother raccoon with her 4 young ones.
I knew we had raccoons passing through since I was picking up dung everyday from my garden paths
What was funny was after a few weeks of doing it I was complaining to my wife how we will never see the culprits unless we stay up well into the night - - and as soon as I said that - - the whole family passed by the kitchen window directly in front of us.
When I grabbed the camera it had the 500MM on it - - unfortunately way to much lens - - but I did get a pic of mom looking back at me while a young one passes by her to the other side of the garden.
