London, England - July 19, 2016: The Trellick Tower housing block and Westway road flyover are reflected in the waters of the Grand Union Canal at sunset in west London.
This unassuming painted sign for a departed fish bar is on Fermoy Road, London W9.
The bottom of the sign must have been covered at some point as only the top where the name of the bar would have been, has been painted over.
I'm sure many will yawn with the predictability of this information, but for those who don't know, the building behind is Trellick Tower, (completed 1972) the architect of which was one Erno Goldfinger. James Bond author Ian Fleming so disliked one of his previous projects in Hampstead that he named his most famous Bond villain after him, this has been disputed by some, but why let the truth get in the way of a good story.
A Trellick community celebration to mark 50 years of the iconic tower block took place on 9.07.22.
Trellick Tower is a Grade II* listed tower block on the Cheltenham Estate in Kensal Green, London. Opened in 1972, it had been commissioned by the Greater London Council and designed in the Brutalist style by architect Ernő Goldfinger. Live Graffiti took place, with some of the best artists around on hand to share their skills and create a stunning Trellick Hall of Fame piece for the day. See gallery for more images.
