Chained beneath the weeping tree,
A silent frame in reverie.
Rust blooms slow on silver spokes,
Memories lost in rain-soaked oaks.
Securely tethered to a tree; plenty of grass for him to eat, I would have left him a bucket of water if he was mine.
As we did not have students today, we were able to go out for lunch. However, my principal doesn't really ever get away. Truth be told, we all had our phones out at one time or another!

Wireless tethering with Pentax K-3 and Pentax Flucard Pro
Screen dump from the computer, used for connecting to the camera through the Pentax Flucard Pro.
In stead of connecting the computer to the normally used wireless network, you must connect to the network provided by the Pentax Flucard Pro. When opening Google Chrome and typing in the URL for the flucard, you'll get this user interface. I found the tethering options especially useful for packshots (repro work) when the camera is mounted above my head so I can't monitor the screen or viewfinder.

This falcon was in the Tian Shan Mountains in Kyrgyzstan. It was tethered and is used by the local people to pose for photos (for a fee) for tourists (not that they see many). I refused!

As dawn breaks over Marshall's Creek, two vessels tethered to a ramshackle shed overhanging the shore drift gently with the tide.
Beyond the shoreline, a regiment of oyster cages stands guard over the creek, breaking the surface turbulence and affording a glassy sheen.
Lanoe George Hawker was born on 30th December 1890 in Longparish, Hampshire. He was to become the first Fighter Ace of the British Commonwealth. He was known as a quiet unassuming man who was well liked. Originally an officer in the Royal Engineers, Hawker was not only a skilled and aggressive pilot but he was an innovator whose ideas greatly benefited the pilots who he served with and who followed him. Hawker was responsible for introducing new aids for combat pilots such as Ring Sights, fur-lined thigh boots, and a Rocking Fuselage for target practice.
Major Hawker was known as an aggressive pilot and had the motto “attack everything”. At Gontrode 19th April 1915 while flying a B.E.2c he attacked a German Zeppelin hangar by using bombs and hand grenades. He attacked at low level (below 200ft) and used a tethered German balloon which was manned to help shield him from enemy ground fire as he made his attacks, this earned him the DSO (Distinguished Service Order). Hawker with help from air mechanic Ernest Elton developed a machine gun mount for attaching a Lewis gun to a Bristol Scout. While testing this on 25th July 1915 he drove off one German aircraft and downed two others, despite all three enemy aircraft being machine gun armed and two seaters. For this he earned the VC (Victoria Cross) being the first pilot to earn a VC for aerial combat. He distinguished himself while in No 6 squadron but his command of No 24 squadron led it to become called Hawker’s Squadron and is regarded by some as Britain’s first real fighter squadron.
On the 23rd November 1916 while flying a D.H.2 he engaged an Albatros fighter behind enemy lines and was shot down and killed by Manfred von Richthofen, the 11th kill for the man who was to become the Red Baron. The dogfight was was of the longest recorded at that time and Richthofen’s machine guns jammed at the last minute but one of the last bullets fired hit Major Hawker in the head and he died instantly. Hawker had achieved 8 combat kills at that time

This is one way we measure the intensity of predation of shell-crushing predators in the salt marsh.
Careful or you'll have someone's eye out, as my Nanna used to say.
Lucignano represents a remarkably conserved medieval walled hill-top village, elliptical in shape. It was strategically located between Siena and Arezzo, and between 1200 and 1500 was disputed between these cities and Florenceand Perugia. The name Lucignano probably derives from the Roman family of the consul Licinio. Once the town came under the rule of Florence, construction began of the fortress, attributed to Bernardo Puccini. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucignano

Folk 020.
.
Name: Sanki Greenlit
Species: Culmidane, the Stump Spirit Folk
.
About the Culmidane: Stump Spirits are Folk formed from the spirits of improperly felled trees, all gathered together, which slowly forms into a physical body and a single conciousness. While the spirits congregate together and create their new form, the Culmidane is bound to the stump, finally achieving physical freedom once their body is fully formed. Culmidane have a wide range of appearances, and although most start out with a similar form to humans and Social Folk, as they age they become more primal and distinct from other species. They have the ability to disguise their form, as well as a slight talent for making illusions with their spiritual presence.
.
About Sanki: Sanki is a very young Culmidane, whose body has not fully formed yet. He had the good fortune that two trees were felled near each other, and so a second Culmidane has started to come together just on the other side of the hill he ‘lives’ on. Seta, the second Culmidane, has provided him company for all his known existence, and Sanki has grown quite fond of her. Culmidane are easily impressionable at a young age, so to have both Sanki and Seta grow together has had a hugely positive impact on their personalities. However, as the two of them are tethered to their individual stumps for now, they have never touched, the distance between them being just a little too great to cross.
.
Sanki has little ambition at the moment besides speaking with Seta, as they rarely get visitors and know very little of the outside world.
