Considering this was very near the end of Turkish steam, this is quite a steamy little scene at Afyon in May 1989. On the right is a 57___ 2-10-0 with two Kriegsloks in the background.

The Çamlik Railway Museum is located on the former Ottoman Railway mainline, the oldest line in Turkey, near the village of Çamlık, very close to the famous historical site at Ephesus. When the tracks on the Izmir to Aydın main line were realigned, a small portion of the line as well as the original Çamlık railway station were abandoned. Work to set up the museum started in 1991, and was completed in 1997. It uses the original tracks laid in 1866.

The 08.10 Elazig - Adana 'Firat Ekspresi' is diesel hauled as far as Malatya, where the generator van and DE24 are replaced by an E68 electric loco for the remainder of the journey. E68 062 is seen at Fevzipaşa where a run round is necessary (until the new avoiding line is opened).
A view of the Hedjaz Railway train station in Beersheba, Israel, in November 2016. A formerly Turkish TCDD class 8F (Stanier) 2-8-0 steam locomotive, Nr. "70414", is on permanent static display right outside the station building, as an interesting, though entirely irrelevant, reminder of Beersheba's railway history.
Nr. "70414", being a standard gauge locomotive, never had anything to do with the Turkish-Ottoman and narrow gauge Hedjaz Railway whatsoever, but was still placed on public display in Beersheba in the spirit of a popular Israeli song from the 1950s, commonly known as "The Locomotive's Song" which is about the last voyage of ISR (ex-LMS) steam locomotive Nr. 70414 from Beersheba to the scrapyard in Haifa, thereby marking the end of the steam era in Israel and the beginning of the diesel age in the Holy Land:

This bridge is not often photographed!
It is located in the border area between Turkey and Syria, off limits to the public. Thanks to Bayram Altay and the goodwill of the Turkish officer, I was allowed into this area to take some pictures (bridge only, nothing concerning military installations or soldiers). At this point I would like to express my gratitude to the hospitality of the Turks! If Army, TCDD-staff or normal people, as a foreigner it is a pleasure to travel Turkey!
The 10-car (silver and red) version of the E32000 units operate the complete 77km Marmaray route from Halkalı on the European side of Istanbul to Gebze on the Asian (Anatolian) side. The 5-car (turquoise and white) version supplements this service by shuttling back and forth on the core Zeytinburnu (Europe)-Söğütlüçeşme (Asia) section.

In summer mid-day heat local Izmir shunter DH3616 has derailed at Halkapinar awaiting a gang and crane.
While giving me a lift from Alsancak the friendly driver had left me involuntarily on board while he left the loco to throw the approaching pointwork!
No doubt, a lucky outcome on a day of mixed fortunes but notably this 'don't do this at home' moment!
