UDAIPUR a city in Rajasthan

the image a mother and child begging both with arms/hands raised as such.

Thus the name i have given to this is UDAIPOOR.

i have also named it SYNCHRONICITY because of the dual nature of mother and daughter

begging.

It's been a strange couple of days where synchronicity after synchronicity has occurred, making me wonder if something cosmic is happening...not photographically of course; it's still ( but only just) summer and I don't really take good photos in summer!

However, I did take this shot today which isn't great but not too bad...

I wasn't planning on going out but I visited Cotswold Outdoor this morning to look into some new boots (my current pair of La Sportivas have lasted just over a year) and came out carrying a pair of Scarpa R-Evo Pro GTX.

With that in mind I had to go out and test them so rather than drive anywhere I headed up Siabod and the boots are brilliant as were the amazing Cotswold lads who gifted me with some 'game changing' customer service! An excellent shop and the best in Snowdonia for all things footware.

So, back to the photo...

This tiny pool (puddle) is on the NE ridge of Siabod and I always stop here incase there is a shot on. There rarely is but it surprised me to find that the last shot I took here was in 2011, back in my photographic novitiate!

I did of course wait for an hour to capture this as wave after wave of clag rolled in and then out again before the drizzle came to signal my descent to the Tyn y Coed for my 3rd steak and chips in as many days...

If's Friday, there must be sadneressness. Also? Giraffes. And? synchronicity! Orange meets orange. What are the odds?

ou est le singe?

I did the homework so that we could take a shot of the full moon rising over the legendary Lick Observatory on Mt. Hamilton, high above the Silicon Valley. On Saturday, the moon rose at 5:38pm at an azimuth of 70° and an angle of 4.3° above the horizon, as seen from the Communication Hill, 12 miles (19.3 km) away from the Lick Observatory. My azimuth calculation was a bit off, so I raced down the hill with my camera gear once the moon came up to the left of the observatory. The sunset was at about the same time, which gave a balanced light. There is some atmospheric distortion due to the heat in the air, which results in a jagged outline of the moon. By pure coincidence a Cessna aircraft passed by the observatory. Synchronicity in action: Lick Observatory, celestial-object, aircraft.

I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

This is the first time that I've ever taken THREE consecutive shots that turned out to be synchronised. The shots were taken at the limit of my zoom lens too and fairly unbelievably, I couldn't see what I was taking as the sun was shining on my screen. It would seem nonsensical not to upload all three photos together, one after the other.

A walk along the shores of Loch Linhe is filled with wildlife, this pair of Plovers were just a few of the amazing creatures that I encountered!

#240 of the 365day challenge.

After hiking up to Delicate Arch I realized that I had an hour or so to spare until the Milky Way would rise. I set my camera up, sat back, relaxed, stared up at the sky, and let the camera do all the work for me. This was made from 100 images, manually stacked in PS. The faint, blurred light in the lower left portion of the image is the Milky Way rising around 1am.

Hope everyone had some amazing light this weekend... while my camera is still being serviced. *tear*

Lots more to come!!!

Kahn and Etta, tongues in unison.

Daily Dog Challenge: Unbearable.

Kahn finds heat unbearable. After a walk in warm to hot weather he needs to cool his body with a drink AND a soak under the hose. He especially appreciates it on mist.

Etta just wants the drink, not the shower!

We've already had some hot weather (mid 30sC) before getting to Summer!

Maned Duck

Chenonetta jubata

The Australian wood duck, also known as the maned duck or maned goose (Chenonetta jubata), presents a unique visage reminiscent of a diminutive goose. This species, measuring between 45 to 51 centimeters, is notable for its grazing habits and is typically observed in flocks.

The Australian wood duck favours grasslands, open woodlands, and wetlands, including flooded pastures and coastal inlets and bays. It thrives in agricultural landscapes with dams and is a common sight in urban parks and near rice fields, sewage ponds, and deeper lakes.

The Australian wood duck is a ground forager, rarely seen on open water, and shows a preference for dabbling in shallow water or grazing in grasslands and crops.

Part of a skein of snow geese or Ross's geese flying over farmland near the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge in California.

I admire the synchronization of wingbeats and the even spacing, but believe that the presence of the one goose with fully extended wings makes the composition work.

Had a very fun time this weekend watching Big Horn Sheep butting heads in Colorado. Their synchronicity was amazing. Their horns colliding sounded like a gunshot.

Taken from our stoep where a family of Kudu visited our waterhole every day.

As you can imagine I had to take quite a few photographs to capture the synchronicity between these two Oxpeckers.
