Koi were developed from common carp in Japan in the 1820's and are

still popular there because they are a symbol of love and friendship.

Synchronistic events reveal an underlying pattern, a conceptual framework that encompasses, but is larger than, any of the systems that display the synchronicity. The suggestion of a larger framework is essential to satisfy the definition of synchronicity as originally developed by Carl Gustav Jung

For whatever reason, the couple on the left reminds me of a younger version of Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox.

This photograph is part of the Synchronized Synchronicity project that my friend Dagmar and I are incorporating into our 366 sets, where we alternate calling the theme for each Wednesday's entry.

The assignment for this week is "rust".

One of the installations in 'Synchronicity' by UVA at 180 Studios. Not a static installation - video here. The title refers to the Renaissance idea that the motions of the planets were governed by similar mathematical laws to music.

A photo a day, no. 105/365

The one butterfly species seeming in abundance this summer but only in one spot filled with thistle where I watched surrounded by five of these beauties fluttering about, paying not the slightest bit of attention to my presence. The last warm breezes of summer are whispering goodbye to our flying insect friends, tho those lingering seem much less apprehensive and skittish. Remarkably, yesterday I had a large, blue and green dragonfly (a Green Darner, I believe) hover around me for quite some time, landing on various parts of my body without the slightest qualm, finally actually perching on the tip of my nose for several amazing moments before taking his leave...naturally, just before I finally decided to try for a photo.

[Note to Sigi: As mentioned on your shot, looking at the same scene at about the same time halfway across the world. Now that's synchronicity.]

Like I always say, Illinois is almost as scenic as the snow capped Colorado Rocky Mountains, other than all the reasons it's not. Anyway, here we see the Kaskaskia River Railroad blistering along at 8 mph (maybe) with a load of gypsum just having been handed off by CN L54491. The power plant from which this gypsum originates can be seen a few miles in the distance.

In our world we seems to have forgotten the Primordial… the conditioning prevails! The spirit be parasited by the mind can’t act actively! Hazardous situation by excellence… the negative energy of the mind governs all… desires, emotions, ambitions, depression! Thanks to the research of Carl Jung on the I Ching, the collective unsconscious, and for his theory of the synchronicity, we know now that it is possible to recapture the spirit of a newborn… unconditioned… a mind without ambitions or desires…… the spirit of the Tao…. the innocence… the reality…. the liberation from the past!!!

Nature knows… a simple slide show set to an original song composition. Best viewed with headphones on, and when there's time to relax. The song was inspired by a dream… and Jung had worked a lot on dreams!!! :)))

such a beautiful night

An adult Pacific bottlenose dolphin and calf surface in perfect synchronicity. More often than not mother dolphins shield their calves by keeping themselves between the boat and their little ones. This rambunctious little fellow, however, was darting around so much it was difficult for Mom to keep things totally corralled.

“Synchronic” Q&A Session. Justin Benson. Toronto International Film Festival. (9/13/2019)

Driving Ridgefield NWR's auto tour, just coming out of the woods, I noticed the Great Egret and the Great Blue Heron way out in the field to my left (400 feet, after checking Google Earth). After taking some shots I realized that the egret was on a branch further back from the heron. I added the 1.4x extender to my 500mm and stopped down to f9 to increase DOF. It helped some but could have been stopped down even more. When I was finished shooting, not far ahead, the road took a 90 degree turn left as I drove so I could see the scene from the right side of the photo. The branch the egret is on is actually from a different tree and an estimated 20 feet behind the heron.

Complex flaps, massive GE90 engines, triple boogy landing gear and speed all dance together to bring this giant Air France 777-200 back down to Earth. When you stop a realize what's involved it is quite amazing what planes do with so little effort on a daily basis.

ODC Theme - Candid

I've taken to carrying my camera with me on my morning walk around the neighborhood. Today while sidetracked from my power walk by some lovely ladybugs in the tall grass, I heard the distinct thud thud of a runner coming up the path. As she blissfully passed by I nabbed a candid shot and went back to my musing with the insects. A happy, meaningful coincidence.
