This is the first time that I've ever taken THREE consecutive shots that turned out to be synchronised. The shots were taken at the limit of my zoom lens too and fairly unbelievably, I couldn't see what I was taking as the sun was shining on my screen. It would seem nonsensical not to upload all three photos together, one after the other.
I stopped by Lake Woodlands late last week when the crew teams were practicing. It's interesting to watch the choreography of the oars moving through the water.
That anchor-point that is holding the cloud reflection pinned in place is the end of a sawn branch. I loved everything about the scene except for that, so I moved my pov until I was able to "nail" the cloud in place with it. Silver Lake, Brighton, Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah, USA
RAW file edited in View NX-i, fill light and clarity added in Corel Paintshop Pro The weakness I have for processing is bringing out details that were lost in shadow in the original image. That top band should really be almost pure black, but I've pulled out the water ripples and other patterns. Not better or worse, but me.
Heron Pointe(r) & Dog Walk(er) – IMRAN®
A moment of synchronicity, framed in feathers and fur. My Long Island home is called Heron Pointe, which inspired the title’s playful symmetry. And here at Symphony Isles in Florida, where the dog walk is a ritual a dozen times daily—through the neighborhood and along the beach—wildlife encounters are part of the rhythm.
On this one, K2 paused at the seawall, gazing out toward a great blue heron standing motionless in the shallows, just beyond the wet sand and dry land. As if choreographed, he turned and walked back toward me. I caught them both in one frame—one pointing, one walking—and the title wrote itself.

Strobist info: 1 off-camera flash (yongnuo YN560 III) triggered two times and synchronised with the maximal oscillation amplitude of the metronome within the camera exposure time.
Are encounters just chance or are they part of synchronicity? I met this woman in an alley in a part of town where you have to be careful. I was taking pictures of an abandoned car and she was walking her dog. We struck up an easy conversation. It would have been easy to have labeled her at first glance. (I admit it...I did.) But she was so much more than I thought. Kind. Bright. A people and animal rescuer who has come upon hard times... The encounter was like a shot of adrenaline. The car itself was a shot, but this woman and our candid conversation energized me in a powerful way.
Our cameras lead us. We just need to follow. What a journey life is!

The world is full of small joys; the art consists in knowing how to distinguish them ~ Li Tai-Po
"SOLO PARA LOCOS"
This is the Midland Co-generation Plant, a natural gas fired steam and electricity plant that was the largest of its kind in the world when it was completed in 1991. The lake in the foreground and much of the site was actually built as part of a nuclear power plant that was in design and construction on and off from 1967 until the project was ultimately cancelled in 1984. The plume is actually water vapor and not smoke.

No, this is not a bird with four wings...
The manouvering abilities of seagulls are really stunning. These two flew in perfect synchronicity.
... where your voice rises in the miasma,
and all I can do is stand still, before I can even
move—its soft breath slips into my lungs like
water, a summer Serengeti, an endless pine.
Collectively, we walk as one, where we compose
photographs into fountains, coalesce our features,
until even I, cannot tell whose hand is whose—
the synchronicity sings, as the moments evolve.

Yosemite Valley, Milky Way and an Eta Aquarids meteor right above Half Dome.
Often times, what makes an image memorable is not the author's ability to take the photo or their post-processing mastery, but the stroke of luck of capturing something unplanned and likely unrepeatable.
Here's a view of Yosemite Valley, one of so many ever taken. Yet, when I was putting together this 8 pane mosaic and saw I had captured an Eta Aquarid meteor (remains of comet Halley) _exactly_ right above Half Dome, shifting colors from green to yellow to red, even my jaw dropped to the floor.
PS: The image is not a composite.
Well, the photo is not all that great, but it is kind of a perfect illustration of my thought for the day. SYNCHRONICITIES.... I'm not sure if I have ever heard the word before. It came up in something that I was reading last night. Today, much like the past few days, did not start out well, and when I got to Waterloo Village for my morning walk, I wasn't even feeling much like attempting to take pictures, but I threw my camera over my shoulder and pulled on my gloves and started off on my walk. I was feeling particularly down for a number of reasons, one of them being that January is over. I've done nothing. I've gone nowhere. I've seen no one. All I did was work. One month of the year... gone... with nothing to show for it. Still in the same rut, with nothing improving. No photo inspiration hit me, as it does some mornings, which always surprises me. Then I remembered what someone told me. Change your point of view. If you were looking up.... look down. So I looked down ... and there was this little nut, perfectly heart shaped. It's not quite as exciting as finding a heart shaped rock...which I always look for... but still.... there was nothing else around it except for a few pebbles and it was kind of cool. And then my phone rang, and I missed the call as I fumbled to unzip my jacket pockets with mittens on.... followed by a text message from a friend... saying CALL ME!! Thinking that there must be something wrong, I headed back to the car to make the call. There was nothing wrong... just a "I haven't talked to you forever and I haven't seen you and I miss you" call. That was nice, and pretty much what I needed. We compared notes, listened to each other's ongoing problems and once again had the "we have to do something to fix this" and "everything happens for a reason" conversation... and then I hit the dead zone that I always hit while driving to work, and we were cut off. The radio came on immediately as the call was dropped and I listened to Bob Marley singing...."This is my message to you...Don't worry 'bout a thing, 'Cause every little thing gonna be alright." And that... is synchronicity.
Think about it... you've had them too, right?!
"People love mysterious things, and synchronicity is like magic happening to them. It gives us a sense of hope, a sense that something bigger is happening out there than what we can see, which is especially important in times like this when there are so many reasons for despair." ~ Carolyn North
Like when you suddenly think of someone that you haven't seen in a long time and then they call you, or you run into them somewhere. That's a synchronicity. Carl Jung described them as "meaningful coincidences." Synchronicity is a set of messages:
Nothing happens by chance.
There are no coincidences or accidents.
All coincidences have a special meaning for you.
Yeah... synchronicities are messages from the Universe. And I think they have something to do with the fact that I find it so hard to let go of things, people, places. (works for me! Another good excuse!) Very cool stuff to think about. But beyond this... my day did not improve. It kind of got worse... and by the end, I felt like quitting everything and pretty much wasn't liking anyone very much either. I suppose there is a message in here somewhere, but I've had enough and I'm calling it a day. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
