Troopers from Bravo Battery, Field Artillery Squadron, 2d Calvary Regiment and Latvian Soldiers of Fire Support Company, Combat Support Battalion, fire the M777 155mm Howitzer during Operation Summer Shield XII at Adazi Military Base, Latvia, March 27, 2015. Latvian Soldiers have been cross training on the weapon system for nearly two weeks to prepare for this event. The weapons familiarization training is part of Operation Summer Shield XII a 10-day evolving training process during which partner forces from the U.S., Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Germany, Canada and the United Kingdom will work alongside one another in combined arms and live-fire maneuvers. This is the first exercise in which artillery pieces of this magnitude will be fired on Latvian soil since WWII. Operations like OSS XII provide great platforms to expand the involvement of U.S. troops in the region improving interoperability and confidence among NATO allies. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Aaron Ellerman 204th Public Affairs Detachment/Released)
Prowar elements take to the street in downtown Olympia, Washington.
"Pro-war" Bush Administration supporters
signs read:
"Pride in:
Our Troops!
Our President!
Our Country!"
------
"Our Honorable Brave Troops Before Politics"
------
"Support President Bush & Our Troops"
------
––––––––––––
Do you see any incongruences within, or between, these signs?
Also, at one point during the vigil, a woman, who appeared to be quite agitated, pulled up into the parking lot of the Vietnamese Restaurant near the pro-war activists. She offered her support to the pro-war camp. I heard her ask, "Are you supporting our troops, or protesting the idiots?"; to which, I heard Jeff Brigham respond, "We are here supporting our troops and protesting the idiots."
Chalk me up as an "idiot." What an honor. sigh
Irene Imhof, Liz Crocker and Ted Pallas joined the crowd of goodhearted San Diegans who took part in this year's Storybook Ball.
The 2012 Father Daughter Dance was a "Knight to Remember" thanks to Chevrolet of Fairbanks, Alaska USA Federal Credity Union, TriWest Healthcare Alliance and the many other sponsors who made this event possible. Thanks to our volunteer committee for investing hundreds of hours into this event celebrating and strengthening the Faughter-Daughter bond!
4th Annual Mother Son Adventure on July 21, 2012 at Cottonwood Park on Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson (JBER). The theme was "Angry Birds in the Park" and despite the rain it was quite party! For the second year in a row we were visited by a small black bear, and a momma moose brought her son by too!

These sheets were put out at cities on each stop of the You don't speak for me, Cindy tour, for supporters to write messages on. They'll be sent over to Iraq and Afghanistan.

055 of 365 in 365 Days
For over 2 years, 24/7/365, this flag has hung from my porch, and it will stay there until our troops return from Iraq in enough numbers. I don't know what "enough" is yet....
It is patient --
Still, stoic,
Standing silent.
Biding its time.
It is restless --
Back and forth,
Flip-flap up/down,
Its murmurs sail the winds.
Hanging from my porch,
Nothing wrapped in it,
Nobody worshipping it --
It is what you make of it.
Is it soaking in Fear?
Let us dry it with Courage.
Is it torn up with Violence?
Let us sow it with Peace.
Is it burning in Anger?
Let us douse it with Reason.
Is it stained with our Arrogance?
Let us scrub with Respect.
Is it...?
[unfinished]
Let us....
(Sorry -- I've hit a wall. It is my own Anger, and Sadness, and profound Disappointment in our Arrogant and Incompetent leaders, and what they have wrought. [Please note a very small "l" in "leaders."])
