This card is made with a little stampset by Hero Arts: "Oh Happy Day" by Lia. The sentiment is Clearly Besotted and the paper is Dear Lizzy: " Fine & Dandy". The design is by Amy Colling as seen on Instagram.

"The Residents" is the name applied to an artistic aesthetic. It is a project concerned with focusing on the artistic output, and not on the artists. As a byproduct of that concern, the artists remain anonymous. And as a byproduct of that byproduct, many people unfortunately fixate on what appears to be a mystery.

This is my answer for the challenge in Get Pushed - Round 8 that I got from JTs Mama.

JTs Mama has a happy photostream I think. She has fantastic portraits and moments captured with her lens.

Here is what she wrote to me : " So... it looks like you do have some kind of photo editing software and like playing with that a little so I was thinking maybe you could try a sort of Andy Warhol style color collage (like one image edited a few different ways.) "

---

This was a supercool assignment! Thanks JTs Mama. I could imagine myself doing lots of these in the future. Especially if You like it :) This is candy on my Ipad cover!

Dpt. Huichapan, Condesa, Mexico DF, Mexico, April 2017

Ice-cream = 1.50 Euro.

Sitting in the sun, 35 C (in the shade), in a black leather jacket with sunglasses, priceless ;-)

It was mid-1990, and I was still sporting the double denim look, having fallen for The Smiths and Morrissey in a big way (I think I heard my first Smiths record the day after they split - perfect timing). Because I'd failed to get the grades for university the previous summer, I was in the middle of a year out. Where most people would've tried Inter-railing around baroque European capitals, I rejected such exotica in favour of an admin position at a haulage company in the spare office of British Gas in Preston.

Having also missed out on Spike Island and the second summer of love, I realised I was already past it at 18. Everyone else was wearing baggy kecks, had curtains for hair and waved glo-sticks in fields near Warrington at the weekend. It was time for me to learn about this thing they called "dance music". (Would you believe it? Music that you were supposed to dance to! I was used to nightclubs like Raiders, where boys dived headfirst into a post-punk thrash-punch melee the second someone played Buzzcocks, or kohl-eyed girls with crimped hair swayed mysteriously in mourning for The Sisters Of Mercy.)

So I asked one of the girls at my local vinyl-pile, Action Records on Church St, to whip me up a tape of salvation/education. A friend of a friend, Jacky (who, for some reason, preferred to be called Jessie, and was a big fan of Disney cartoons) thankfully took pity on me and did the honours. Not all of it was her choice. I asked for Hippychick (which famously sampled How Soon Is Now) as a sop to my indie heritage, though swiftly it became my least favourite of the tracks. (I hate hearing it even now, 'cos it lulls you into thinking some unwitting idiot has playlisted The Smiths on radio by mistake.)

No, I never did end up taking the train to the Bank Quay for late night raves. I didn't even really grow my hair. But I did add this to my list of Walkman-friendly cassettes for the rest of that summer. I went to university a year late. It's actually quite easy to get a place when you already know what your results are.

So, what did I learn from my "dance education"? Dunno. I spent most of my first year at uni playing George Formby songs at top volume and drinking. Let's look at that tracklisting:

1. World In Motion by EnglandNewOrder

It was 1990! Gazza's tears! E for England. John Barnes raps. Keith Allen makes a fool of himself in the video. Even I spotted that this was a rip-off of the Reportage theme that "the other two" did for Def II. Still the best England World Cup theme, though. I probably asked for this one to be on the tape.

2. Expression by Salt 'n' Pepa

Two years before it broke the top 40! Still the kind of story-telling, make-a-point rap that reminds me of The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, unfortunately, though I became a fan from the Very Necessary album onwards. And there's something about that Queens "nu yoik" accent that's very sexy.

3. Starfish & Coffee by Prince

A classic "list of random stuff" track in the mould of The Beatles' I Am The Walrus, as told by Dr Seuss. I did buy the single Sign O' The Times but Prince has never really grabbed me. My mate Stewart Tavener, who I was in a guitar band with at the time, loved this song.

4. Hippychick by SoHo

Probably the only non-Billy Bragg top ten song ever to namecheck the 1984-5 miners' strike. Subtle Soul II Soul backbeat, of course, as well as *that* sample.

5. Eye Know by De La Soul

Now you're talking! Something I had actually heard from out of the actual charts! And, because we were still in the midst of a Levi-flogging Stax soul revival in 1990, I was more than familiar with the source of the Otis Redding sample. Even *I* wasn't stupid enough to say things like "it's just talking over someone else's song", though. I bought my first Levi's in 1994, fact fans.

6. Heart by Neneh Cherry

Not "Hearts" as listed. My favourite bit of Neneh Cherry is her faux-Cockney accent on Buffalo Stance which, in turn, inspired a devotion for Betty Boo (I think that Doin' The Do was the first pop-rap 12" I bought). Note the number of "strong wimmin" artists on this tape. Girls, eh?

7. Fools Gold by Stone Roses

I was there! I was watching! I was in the audience! When Ian Brown shouted "Amateurs!" at Tracey MacLeod on The Late Show. For ages, I thought the line "Marquis De Sade never made no boots like these" was "My kemo sabe never made no boots like these". Tonto, you have lots to answer for.

8. Only Love Can Break Your Heart by Saint Etienne

Pre-Cracknell Ets. This was the track that probably got the most play from this tape. Love the haunting reggae feel reminiscent of The Specials' Ghost Town. I was presenting a radio show in 1994 so was able to select this to represent their "best of" collection. I also liked Cola Boy, so nyer.

9. Heaven by The Chimes

Whoomp! There it is! The Incredible Bongo Band's famous Apache drum loop gets its first outing. Can't forgive The Chimes for their U2 cover, though, sorry. When I was a littl'un, I used to listen to Radiophonic Workshop albums. I couldn't work out why people thought "electronic" music was new in the '90s.

10. Get A Life by Soul II Soul

Back when I was in college, I used to car-share: Pete Flowers driving, the above mentioned Stewart Tavener in shotgun and me sharing the back seat with a girl who was well into her dance music. She leant me an album called Breaks & Beats, literally just two sides of drum loops and "scratch" noises. The "stab" sample (of Pleasure's Celebrate The Good Things) used here was on it. I've still got the album. Sorry!

11. Shake Your Thang by Salt 'N' Pepa

The Isley Brothers via James Brown. You have to remember, in the charts of 1990, this stuff would've rubbed shoulders with New Kids On The Block, Londonbeat and the shuffling carcass of the Stock Aitken Waterman hit zombie. It was hard to spot good stuff. Also, Dee-lite's Groove Is In The Heart wasn't released until August, so you needed these mash-ups to pave the way.

12. Natural Thing by Innocence

It's got a whole chunk of Shine On You Crazy Diamond in the middle! That's the closest we got to "chillout" in 1990, you know. Except for the night I took magic mushrooms at a party and went to Avenham Park at midnight. It was very misty. I convinced myself I'd gone to hell. It was not nice.

13. Stepping Stone by The Farm

"There's always been a dance element to our music." Oh, okay, that was The Soup Dragons. The Farm were never fashionable, but as an Evertonian I have to forgive them because of All Together Now. Peter Hooton looked like your dad and couldn't dance or sing. Madchester made stars of them all. How ironic.

14. Fairplay by Soul II Soul

The dubplate classic that got 'em signed in the first place. Not featured on this collection thankfully is Back To Life, which used to irritate me, in part through overplaying and the New Jack Swing movement, but also as it featured on an '80s compilation album my mum had that she would always play loudly on Saturday mornings. Ride On Time was the first track and she thought it was hilarious 'cos it opened with the lines "Gotta get up, gotta get up..."

15. Buffalo Stance - Neneh Cherry

Jacky lived with my friend Sarah. They both worked in record shops, which I thought was the Best Job Ever in the '80s and early '90s. They were supercool, had a massive Marilyn Monroe Chanel No 5 poster in their living room and lived on rum and coke. I drafted Sarah into my shortlived band with Stewart Tavener (The Innocent Piglets - oh yes, we rocked the C86 fey indie vibe, my friends!) whose favourite track at the time was this one. I love the six note counter-melody that comes in at about 4'30".

16. Me Myself And I by De La Soul

Comedy! Witty wordplay! Social commentary! I've always listened to the words in songs and it always seems bizarre to me that so few lyric writers try to convey a clear, coherent message. As you might note by the inlay decoration (especially the other side), Jacky bought into all the "daisy age" guff. By contrast, in 1994, I was buying gangsta rap. Your fault, Jacky. Your fault.

17. Got To Have Your Love by Mantronix.

So good it could even survive a cover by Liberty X. In case you were wondering, and despite the hearts and flowers adorning this tape, there was never a "thing" between me and Jacky. I was nowhere near cool or confident enough, for a start. I did buy her a silver brooch thing once, and she looked STUNNING in a short purple sequin dancin' dress, but the relationship remained one of teacher and pupil.

Many of these this morning in Durham. Phil Plait explained these in a Bad Astronomy article (slate.com) on 7 March 2015: www.slate.com/blogs/bad_astronomy/2015/03/07/fallstreak_s...

Biel is the host with the most!

Day 2, 10pm - Ad Village, Cavellosim beach. This has to be the best party I've ever been to. These dudes (Update: Jalebee Cartel from Delhi) announced very early on that there won't be any Bollywood music (Hurray for that!). Only Electronica all through the night (Louder hurray for that!) To be honest, the dance floor was pretty empty and my mates who'd dragged me to the floor the previous night were nowhere to be seen. But fuck me, I'd have danced even if I would've been the only person on the floor. The mix was wicked and the South American salsa/merengue/whatever-the-fuck-that-was influence was tight! (Yeah, it wasn't just hard trance, but still very cool). Can't wait to see these guys again.

P.S. Hail electronica-inventor! (and chocolate-cake inventor, also!)

This is such a beautiful sight in our strife-driven world… meet the very polite Abhinav of Faqir Chand and Sons entering Bahrisons Booksellers in Delhi’s supercool Khan Market… the bookstores of Khan Market can surely be seen as rivals but they also stand by each other and if a customer can’t find a particular book, the shop guy goes to the other bookstore to get the copy… the point is not to disappoint the booklover… flourish and help others flourish… that’s the motto of Khan market's lovely and precious bookstores… saw this young man in the weekend.

Rupert and Thomas really tried to do as the instructor said. They really did. But thet did not buy this talk about needing to gear up, to man up, to shape up, in order to enforce the new policy that they just put into effect at the IT-department.

On the other hand, doing coordinated martial arts moves at sunset. Priceless. Beats all the other team building weekends they´d been to before. So, if the company wanted enforcers, they would get enforcers. Supercool enforcers.

I think I like working the back table even better. I like setting it up how I like it, and learning all the new instruments. However, both scrubbing and assisting are neat-o experiences.

the bag is the coolest thing ever. Its a euro 2008 fan bag, all the flags are velcro, so you can stick on whatever countries are playing next. Its got a belgian flag instead of a romanian one though. I was tagged today by Submerged, and then by Strength versus Weakness, but I got the notice from Submerged first. I immediately grabbed the camera and took some shots outside in the LOVLEY snow (and sunny spring at the same time). But I can’t use the camerashots right now anyway because my hard disk is crowded (so all uploaded pics, except from this, right now is ”old” not so old but a little) so I went up to my room using photobooth instead (there is space in the computer for low definitated pics). I Wanted a pic with a smile because I don’t often smile in this photostream, but I do have a smile and I love it then it happens to appear.

I am usually much more picky before I upload -Me smiling don’t tell much story more than a neurotic confirmation that everything is so ALRIGHT. These smiling pics all over, everywhere can tend to be so suffocating I think, all these smiling faces, as a social demand in being so fucking happy all the time, and if you’re not, you're supposed to ”fake it til you make it”. I like smiling faces as everyone else, but I can’t stand the common fear for sadness that governs, like the entire society has fallen into a gigantic thinkpositive psychosis.

Anyway, this smile is for real. I was happy today! Me and old dog was out skiing (well, she had no skis, only her paws sinken deep into the snow poor lady) on white fields. Above me the black ravens circulated above in the blue. They are croaking and the birds are singing (well ravens are birds as well but they don't sound like singing). It is springtime but still this supercool snow is here! For me it is a big thing getting out and enjoy it since the sunlight for many years have been unmanageble to me like any kind of strong impression as sunlight, sounds, company, whatever that gives "normal" people more energy not less. Before the Downfall Grande I was a big sunlover and I have felt so much guilt every day the sun has shined and I must stay inside because the light just hurts my eyes too much. You got not much power left if you even can't stand the sun. Like you've been transformed to a creepy cockroach or something. A Owl maybe, sounds better than a cockroach. But today the sunlight felt good! Didn't hurt at all!

Well as I said, I am usually more picky then I upload but I guess that, in this Tag game, the Thing is take a snapshot right here, right now and this is it.

And this is it this day. I am happy to be me today. I wish you who read this can be happy being you as well. And if you fail, it is not a failure. That’s just how life is . Right now, right here. That’s okey too.

Those of you, "people in this photo" are those of you who are tagged! Get to work!

I guess I'll note the simple rules:

- Grab your cam, whichever is handy

- Snapshot

- Post

Seth: When I was a little kid, I kinda had this problem. And it's not even that big of a deal, something like 8 percent of kids do it. For some reason, I don't know why. I would just kinda... sit around all day... and draw pictures of dicks.

Evan: What?

Seth: Draw pictures of dicks.

Evan: Dicks? Like a man dick?

Seth: Yes. Like a man dick.

[while you see Seth when he was a kid]

Seth: I'd just sit there hours on end drawing dicks. I didn't know what it was. I couldn't touch the pen to the paper without drawing the shape of a penis.

Evan: That's fucked.

Seth: No shit. It's really fucked up. Here I am. A little kid. And I can't stop drawing dicks to save my own life.

[you see the kid Seth draw a lot of different dicks on different sheets of paper and see a gallery of his drawings one by one]

Evan: Alright, I mean... I just don't see what this has to do with Becca.

Seth: Just listen. Okay?

[you see the kid Seth in a classroom]

Seth: Your precious little Becca sat next to me for all of fourth grade. And in the classroom was where I did the majority of my illustrations. I was very secretive about this whole dick operation. Even I thought I was fucking crazy. Imagine what everyone else would think? So I would stash all my dick drawings in this Ghostbusters lunchbox that I had. So one day, I'm finishing up this real big, veiny, triumphant bastard, all of a sudden...

Kid: Pussy!

[walks by the kid Seth and pushes his notebook and his dick drawing off the desk, and it lands near kid Becca]

Evan: You hit Becca's foot with your dick?

Seth: Yeah. I know.

[kid Becca picks up the drawing he just did, looks at it for a second, sees that it's a dick, and screams her head off and runs to the teacher]

Seth: She starts crying, she flips out. Then she rats me out to the principal. He finds this Ghostbusters lunchbox dick treasure chest and he fucking flips out.

[you see more of his dick drawings one by one]

Seth: He calls in my parents. Turns out this principal is a religious fanatic, and he thinks I'm possessed by some sort of dick devil. My parents go make me see some therapist, and he's asking me all these dick questions. They literally stopped me from eating foods that were shaped like dicks. No hot dogs, no popsicles... You know how many foods are shaped like dicks? The best kinds.

Evan: Well, I don't... That's really messed up. Supergay.

BELOW DECKS

With one caring owner since she was built in 1972 CAOLAS MOR benefits from not having been 'modified' by a succession of different owners and the appearance of the finish below benefits from this. Internal joinery work is constructed from solid and veneer faced teak, finished with a gloss varnish. Throughout the interior soles are finished with carpets. As was customary at the time with designs of this type the aft cabin is accessible via a separate companionway, ideal for a couple cruising with younger children.

Forepeak - A clever design here allows the door for the hanging locker to double as a door into the forepeak when required. The space provides two well sized single berths in a V configuration. Access to the chain locker is provided forward via a large removable panel. Storage is provided with a small shelve running the length of the berths outboard while a good selection of locker space and drawers are provided beneath.

Forward Heads - The heads area is appointed with a brand new Jabsco manual toilet, vanity unit and stainless steel sink. An extendable sink faucet doubles as a shower head when required. The compartment is finished with easy clean formica facings and a teak sole grating. Opposite the heads is a full height wet hanging locker.

Galley - Running along the starboard side of the saloon space the galley is in a linear layout and open to the main saloon. The Plastimo Neptune 3 burner gas locker is located at the forward end with the stainless steel galley sink and drying rack set into the worktop running aft to the companionway. Top loading coolbox has been fitted with additional insulation and an electronic chiller unit to become a fridge. Good selection of storage provided beneath the worktop and in lockers outboard with dedicate storage racks for crockery.

Saloon - Opposite the galley to port the saloon table lies athwart ships with seating forward and aft. Gimballed oil lamps are fitted on the bulkheads to provide a cosy night light. A good volume of storage is again provided outboard of the seating and below each of the seating units.

January 2018

Me as Wonder Olive with Ali Dwyer of WAAM at the Art Bike Rally on the Captiol Square today. We had a great gang of nutty cyclists there to celebrate the kickoff of the Bike Fed's 2009 Bike to Work Week.

It was nice to be able to tell Ali how I'd just succeeded in reviving the Schwinn Typhoon that I rode in the parade. She and India Viola teach a supercool bike maintenance class for women, which I took earlier this year.

High over the infamous semi-military atoll.
