So I am bringing you on a zig zaggy tour around Bali with me. This shot was taken 24 hours before I arrived at The Last Resort and reading through it you may understand even more why I felt the way I did when I was there.
Prior to leaving Australia - I did a lot of research on surfing beaches in Indonesia and came across this place called Keramas which was on the east side of the island away from everything...yes, it was a Tick. I also found that there was a place recently opened about a year ago - called Komune - which was situated on the beach overlooking the surf break which was right in front of Komune - Tick and Tick again. I then read that this was a great spot for sunrise....tick again ...as most of the other places I was visiting in Bali face the sunset. I THEN became super organised just before I left and started researching the 14 day surf forecast for Bali and found that on a particular day whilst I was in Bali on the 26th there was going to be HUGE surf at Keramis....huge tick. I booked a room for that very night/day on the 26th/27th and left busy Ubud and became more and more relaxed on the drive there as there was less and less traffic and tourists on the way there.
I arrive to this supercool place in the middle of nowhere which had this pool on the grass right on the beach, all the food was organic and grown in their own garden, my very cool room had a huge oversized shot of surf and waves over the bed....it was just tick after tick after tick on all the things that I like and felt like I had landed in a Bali from 50 years ago.
I went to bed, set the alarm, up 45 minutes before the sunrise - just a minute walk to get on the beach. The sand there is jet black and is so dark and my toes felt like they had landed on a bed of black velvet , so soft , so beautiful. I wait in the dark for the magic of the pre-sunrise and the big surf....and I wait, and I wait...and nothing was happening....just grey skies and flatish seas and the sun rose behind the clouds and still grey.
I think oh well....best laid plans and all of that....I gave it the best shot. I walk along the beach and it even starts raining , so I walk up the stairs of this surf look out place and plonk myself down and put down my camera bag and then look up and just then the sun burst through the clouds in the most beautiful colours, the surf started rising and I looked down the beach with that tall palm in the distance and for the next 25 minutes, with the colours changing so beautifully, it was pure magic , I took shot after shot as the light changed in those 25 minutes and each one magic ...and thought Yes....I had absolutely found Paradise .
And Isn't it so so so cool to know my fine flickr friends that sometimes when you go looking for Paradise and you put a lot of effort in to it , you can actually find it :)

Gadget greed can only be excorcised by selling your soul in the dungeons of the underground Apple Store on 5th Avenue. Clutching your new iSomething and reduced to to a shimmery shadow, your remaining personality traits evaporate quickly as you enter the sunny outside world again... ;-)
Sorry, had to get that off my chest. All in good spirits! The things made by Apple are - of course - a joy to behold and use, but so much adoration from the general public for anything Apple isn't healthy anymore imho.
Jokes about "the Big Apple" aside, I found that although the sunken entrance is supercool, the store itself is strangely lacking in design appeal. It´s basically a - slightly darkish - big rectangular room with loads of wooden tables with Apple equipment strewn across. More than anything else, it looks like a under-organized nerd gathering. It certainly doesn't radiate the "this-is-where-the-beautiful-young-and-soon-to-be-successful-people-hang-out" vibe that you get in the SF Apple store for instance.
About the photo: I'm glad I brought my Tamron 10-24mm today. Sure, it is a DX lens - so it doesn't cover the entire FX frame - and it actually isn't a top quality lens... but a little wide angle certainly goes a long way in this city! ;-)
It's raining today, so probably a good opportunity to check out the D800 at www.adorama.com while the wife and kids go fashion hunting :-)
I know little about Halo and I can't call myself a big fan of it. But I watched this movie just a couple of days ago and I'm pretty impressed! Master Chief is supercool!
Don't get mistaken, it is an average helmet from Furno, I just used Photoshop to make it authentic to the source.
This Is a 9 Exposure photo taken at Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino Ca. Edited exposure and denoised in lightroom then exported it as 16 bit to Photomatix 4.2 tone mapped it and then post processed in Photoshop CS6 then used Nik Software to add a lens vignette and photo frame which is #12. PS if you save it as a smart object you can go back and change the setting anytime you like, Cool This is my 15th HDR Photo. Hope you like it. If you do please favorite it and add me as a contact so I can come and check out your photos. :0 Thats me in the tip of the prop. The Shadow Knows. When I saw this shot when I came home this morning - I thought wow, those waves were supercool this morning and then I noticed that everyone in this shot was not looking at them - have we all become so quickly blase about these superb waves ??? -
Lavazza and I went out for a New Year's Day walk at Fairburn Ings, our local nature reserve. It looks almost like snow here but it was just a pale wood boardwalk and some lovely bright sunshine :)

A NoEdit photo of the red hot stage scene from the supercool The Alan Parsons Project live concert. I enjoyed it with the sizzling Shannon under the cold draft of the Ruth Eckerd Hall on a frigid night in Clearwater, Florida.
