This shot was taken when i noticed a group of three friends walking down to the sea at Gibson Steps on the Great Ocean Road, Australia. The deep colours from the sunset capture the feeling of great saudade brought to these friends.
On golden sunset... captured before the sun setting are the lovely hues of yellow-orange. Reflect this over the glossy surface of water, you get liquid gold.

Flickr is full of stunning sunsets; you've either posted such sights yourself, or other have posted them.
But...
This is a Sunset (captured yesterday evening) that never quite made it. Initially, it looked as if it was going to be spectacular, but then a thick bank of cloud rapidly rolled out of seemingly nowhere, and that (as they say) was that...!!!
Tonight as I write, wind gusts of upwards of 100kph (or more) and torrential rain squalls are for the third time in 6 days assaulting trees, powerlines, high sider trucks, aircraft and Inter-Islander ferries...!
It's wild, wild, wild out there tonight...!!!

Just behind the Theatre on the Lake in Keswick lies this beautiful area. Taken while at the Keswick Film Festival in 2014 and re-edited recently. After looking at an edit full of bright colours for years, I thought it would be interesting to do a more "moody" edit as an interesting contrast.
There are many good photos from my second day in Cavtat, making the selection of only one for the 365 difficult. This sunset captures the essence of the weather we are getting. 29C (84F) everyday, giving me an extra two weeks of summer.

Earlier in the day, caught a nice shot of these yuccas with last years dried up bloom seed pods about ready to fall out and make ready for the next bloom.
The skies portrays things to come with the sunset captured later in the pano shot.
Another sunset captured during my road trip in India 3 yrs back. Taken near Malwan, a small town in coastal Maharashtra. The sky was clear and I could capture the boat while crossing the setting sun at right moment :)
On the ridge in Encinitas, by the Encinitas Ranch golf course, there is a nice trail with views and a small wooded section. You'd easily walk by this area without noticing it. But in the golden hour before sunset, capturing the right angle transports you to some far away forest meadow.
Only a hint of fence in the bokeh reveals the driving range just a few hundred feet away.

BERLIN – Watch the sunset, save a life.
A woman admiring the sunset on a tourist webcam in northern Germany spotted a man who was lost on the frozen North Sea and probably saved his life by alerting authorities, police said Wednesday.
The man had climbed over pack ice off the coast to photograph a sunset near the town of St. Peter-Ording, then became disoriented on the ice, Husum police spokeswoman Kristin Stielow said.
Unable to locate the beach, the man began using his camera to flash for help. That got the attention of a woman hundreds of miles (kilometers) away in southern Germany who was watching the sunset over the sea on her computer.
The woman contacted police, who located the man's signals and guided him into shore by flashing their car lights. Officers then lectured him on the dangers of trekking on the ice.
