Detailing in the sketch. Every step gets neater, tighter, all the details should be largely in at this point. You should be checking with your editor or art director before progressing past here (unless you like wasting time on revisions).

This is the completed block with the paper removed from the seam allowances.

 

If your corners and background fabrics are on-grain, you can now remove the rest of the paper.

 

if you have any bias edges around the outside of your block, you have one more step. Stitch around the outside of your block, inside the seam allowance, THEN you can remove all the paper.

 

... it was missing something?! Maybe a little texture with the right royal feeling color palette.

After each seam, clip any threads, press open the seam you've just sewn and fold and trim (leaving a seam allowance extending past the fold) for the remaining seams around the fabric you've just added.
