More from the 2017 Frame Catalog. This is Sprite by Phayze.

The only problem is that my yellow plate hinges are so loose D:

This is my first red sprite* and the second ever recorded in Greece. This happened in the evening of 17/4/2017, at 2230 EEST (1930 UTC), over a highly active complex of thunderstorms on Cyclades.

To the bottom left, one can observe the flash of the Cb illuminated by the lightning which triggered the red sprite.

*Brief explanation of Red Sprites: Red sprites are generally rare, occur at high altitudes (50-90 km in the atmosphere and above a thundercloud) and are triggered by positive lightning. They can be naively thought of as some kind of upper-atmospheric lightning, but they are more correctly described as a cold plasma phenomenon (cold plasma is, briefly, the state of a partially ionized gas).

A circa 1965 Austin-Healey Sprite Mark III in less than inspiring condition. Should be restorable, but might not be worth it. In a lot full of wrecks in Pinch, WV.

The last thing legions of lizards, bugs and a few birds have seen over the past year...

Sprites over a thunderstorm north of Menorca in the Mediterranean Sea. Recorded with Fujifilm X-T3 4K movie mode with Samyang 50mm F1.2 lens at f/1.4 in 1/8 sec exposure time, ISO 6400.

This is sprite lightning and it only occurs during the discharge of a very powerful lightning bolt known as a +CG bolt. It appears to be in space here but it is actually 80 km above the earth. The red color it emits are nitrogen molecules being excited by the electrons flowing through them.

Taken at 09:33:52. Nikon d7000, iso 1000, 35mm @ f/2 for 10 secs from just south of Santa Fe. Thunderstorm producing these sprites were over Lubbock, TX.

Twilight was still present while looking almost due east.

Sprites were also photographed at 9:37:04, and 9:46:28 PM MDT (not shown). Although the weather associated with these sprite events was moderately strong at best, the occurrence of sprites is relatively common. One just needs a clear horizon, no strong moonlight, and a bit of luck with timing your exposures.

So I feel kinda like a genius for my moss loincloththing. I have another shot from yesteday with it that I'm kinda thinging I'm just going to use for tomorrows photo (soooo much reading to do for tomorrow X_X)

I went out mid day yesterday with the intention of spending the day doing photos. After prancing around in my moss outfit for this I decieded to go join my tree and skull friends for a snack. While I was sitting there eating my pear a dog came up to me. I have never seen anyone in this area of the forest, the path to it is blocked off by fallen trees so I don't expect people. A little afterwards I see a man in a black trench coat and hat carrying a gun. Behind him were a woman and man in normal hiking atire.... They said hi.... If they were 5 minutes earlier they would have come across me pretty much naked... I didn't feel safe anymore...

The red alien jellyfish in the top right corner. I only know of a few examples where people have captured sprites with SLR cameras. Taken handheld from a turbulent aircraft, so forgive the motion blur.

A sprite is a spirit, a mythical, fairy-like creature who lives by the water. Sprites are supernatural and sometimes tricksy. Sprites are particularly common Western European folk tales, and one of the most famous literary sprites is Ariel from Shakespeare's The Tempest.

Taken just NE of Chyenne, WY. Seems like I may have captured some red colored air glow in this image. I haven't encountered this before so I am not sure what it is. Someone commented that they thought it was red air glow (which is normally green).

“Lord, help me,” pleaded Sprite.

“What’s up?” asked Sprite.

“I think I have hypochondria,” replied Sprite.

“Do you know what hypochondria is?” asked Sprite.

“No idea,” said Sprite. “But I know I’ve got it.”
