Sometimes we have images in our heads of places, dreams of what they should be and what they should not be. Some things can be even more dramatic that we can imagine but they are always the places we dream of. This is a quick edit of a scene from this weekend as i was driving up through the highlands. #Scotland #Landscape #Highlands #Splittone
Bethell's Beach in stormy weather. A 9 stop neutral density filter gave me a 30 second shutter speed which blurred the motion of the waves. Split toned in Photoshop.
This photo was featured in the Peachpit newsletter – you can read about it here.
In another posting I put "She's Tall", perhaps I shoulda posted this one too. I'm not sure why... but I still want one.

Number 365 of my 365 photo challenge - A cross-processed and split-toned, long exposure, landscape image of Bowfiddle rock off the coast of Portknockie in Moray, Scotland, at dawn on the final day of my challenge.
I got here in the pitch dark before dawn. As the sun came up, it was cloudy and raining and I felt so disheartened. The light was awful and flat. Another photographer came and went. It was supposed to be a beautiful sunrise. I could not finish the challenge on that note. So I waited some more. Patience is rewarded. The rain stopped, the clouds allowed the sun to shine through and kiss the top of the rock and I got this shot just before the light faded.
This was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I feel an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. I would like to thank all the people that have supported and encouraged me along the way. Most of all, my wife Veronica and my dog Fara who have suffered along side me on this journey.
Taken during a recent camping trip near Flagstaff, AZ. Tree was near a dusty road which created the light ray effect. I used a split tone process in Photoshop to create this shot. Orange tint for the highlights and blue tint for the shadow.
June 27 - from a distance (30 day image challenge)
"The little space within the heart is as great as the vast universe.
The heavens and the earth are there, and the sun and the moon and the stars.
Fire and lightening and winds are there, and all that now is and all that is not."

That's what came in my mind while shooting this guy. When I aimed my camera at him, he suddenly looked and stared at me. In my mind, I thought he was going to approach me and say something. Then, I remember what my good friend, Ness, advised me...if the person you are shooting saw you, do not take the camera down until he/she is out of the scene and just pretend you are shooting something or someone else...I guess it worked here :-)
If you have time, please visit his stream SimplyNess, he has so many good photos and tips as well :)
I am still busy at work but will try to catch up with you...
Thanks for your visit, comments, and faves!
Have a great day my friends! :)
just a silly little experiment (in hindsight, idiotic) that was ended after the second attempt cuz it was too freakin' cold for such photo phun, hehehe... but hey, never let a mediocre capture go to waste, right?

Although it's a new year with new beginnings, I've been looking through some of my work over the past year that didn't get a look in (for what ever reason) and I'm glad I found this one. This is a shot of a lone oak tree in a field in the village of Egerton in Kent and I took it on the way home from 'bush trial' with my daughter. I recommend a viewing on black.
This is a panoramic shot of Leeds Castle that I took three or four years ago and have given a bluey tone in post production. I'm very proud of this one so it's getting another outing!!
Please view on black and sit back.
