Split toned version of a similar colour shot of the decaying remains of the MV Dayspring (originally named the 'Golden Harvest'), lying on the Loch Eil shoreline at Corpach (roughly translated 'Field of Corpses'). It would have been good to compose the shot with the imposing peaks of Ben Nevis in the background (left of frame here), but unfortunately, low cloud obscured the summit for all but a couple of hours all week when we were visiting the area. The old fishing vessel apparently ran aground here in 2011 following a storm that broke its original moorings from a pier at Kinlochleven. The seagull at top left out of luck for this old boat. Processed using Capture One Pro 21.

Magnolia virginiana, using the split tone filter in Lightroom. I don't normally like these effects, finding them too heavy-handed, but after dialing down the saturation, I liked how it looked.

I like shooting botanical detail work very early in the morning, or after sunset, because you get this soft, semi-directional light that describes the shapes so well.

Shot on Kodak TMY 400 film, processed in Xtol 1:1. (I mistakenly listed this as Pancro 400, sorry!)

Camera: Hasselblad with the 150Mmm Sonnar lens, and a Proxar close-up filter.

So, I have a new-found, post-processing-obsession: split-toning.

Help. Don't help.

My neighbourhood inside a lamp bulb

The recipe:

Fisrt you have to hollow the bulb lamp. I followed these instructions

Then I filled the bulb with water and hung it upside down from a stand.

I took the stand and lamp to my balcony and made the shot, having a gap of sky between the buildings as backdrop - leaving that refraction put all the scenery "inside" the bulb.

It was edited then in Lightroom 3 where I rotated the image 180º and used a split tone technique to get this result.

Since getting a labrador puppy one year ago I am getting out early on more occasions. This has enabled me to capture some early morning mist before the sun burns the atmospheric conditions away.

Thank you for taking the time to look.

Go on, humour me: have a guess. (I'll leave a clue or two lying around...)

Even I thought this was a bit strange by the time I had finished with it. But I rather like the effect - the glories of monochrome!

For the Monochrome Thursday group and my 100x challenge (monochrome and toned).

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image! Happy Monochrome Thursday and 100x :)

[Tripod; ordinary bright daylight.

Developed in Capture One for stripey detail and colour.

Into Affinity for cinematic format crop and rotation to add interest.

High Pass/Linear Blend sharpening.

All the work was done really in Nik Color Efex Pro 4 (i.e. Nik Collection 2).

Recipe:

- Classical Soft Focus

- Contrast Only

- Graduated Filter to take down the top right corner which was distracting

- IR Film (most of the magic gravy here)

- Paper Toner for the toning.

What fun!]

Evening at Coulter Bay on Jackson Lake. HSS

An extreme close up of the working side of a meat tenderiser.

Last week my son and I were making schnitzel. He had the job of bashing the pork loins and he commented that the tenderiser looked like a Cluedo murder weapon: Colonel Mustard, in the kitchen, with the meat tenderiser!

HMM to you all.
