/-/People of Belarus,
This is a Emergency Broadcast/-/
Belarusian forces successfully entered the town of Kaunas yesterday, breaching the strong defenses. Lithuanian military forces, now heavily weakened by continuous bombardments by Tsarist artillery and bombers, have started forming militias of civilians to defend against our elite forces. Many have innocent Lithuanian civilians have died under the cruel government we are in battle against, and Romanov addressed the situation of the militias today:
"...the government is cowardly trying to hold on to what little power it has left, and with these actions I will show no mercy to the heartless Lithuanian officials..."
General Zhikarev contained the enemy forces in a small area in the western part of the city, and expects to overun them completely by tomorrow, and begin his push towards the coast.

This is the saddest grave in the cemetery. The child buried here died many years ago but new angels and cherubs appear frequently and toys are left for him. His family’s grief is palpable.
Then a woman said, "Speak to us of Joy and Sorrow."
And he answered:
Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.
And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.
And how else can it be?
The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.
Is not the cup that hold your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven?
And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.
Some of you say, "Joy is greater than sorrow," and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater."
But I say unto you, they are inseparable.
Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.
Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.
Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.
When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall.

Oh girl we are the same
We are young and lost and so afraid
There's no cure for the pain
No shelter from the rain
All our prayers seem to fail
In joy and sorrow my home's in your arms
In world so hollow
It is breaking my heart

A man's face and arm at the base of Cavalry Charge, one of two sculptures (the other is Artillery) on either side of the main Grant sculpture at the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial in Washington, D.C. I call this photo "sorrow" because as you can see here, the man is in the midst of battle and apparently about to be trampled by horses. According to James M. Goode, author of The Outdoor Sculpture of Washington, D.C.: A Comprehensive Historical Guide, (a must-read) Calvary Charge and Artillery "possess more dramatic interest and suspense than any sculpture in the city and, indeed, in the Nation."
Cavalry Charge was installed on Capitol Hill in 1916, although the memorial wasn't dedicated until April 27, 1922, the 100th anniversary of Ulysses S. Grant's birth. The memorial was designed by architect Edward Pearce Casey and sculpted by Henry Shrady.
The Grant Memorial is one of eighteen Civil War statuary collectively listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
Note: This is one of my older photos I originally uploaded to Wikimedia Commons.
The body language of the two people on this beautiful and moving piece says it all. Seen on a grave at the Alter Friedhof in Darmstadt, Germany.

Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica (officially: the Basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows) is a Roman Catholic basilica on the west side of Chicago, Illinois, which houses the National Shrine of Saint Peregrine, a national shrine. Located at 3121 West Jackson Boulevard, within the Archdiocese of Chicago, it is, along with St. Hyacinth and Queen of All Saints, one of only three churches in Illinois designated by the Pope with the title of basilica.
